Description
Summary:Canadian piano legends Marc-André Hamelin and Charles Richard-Hamelin-no relation-teamed up for the first time in July 2022 at the Festival de Lanaudière to interpret a stellar Mozart-centric program, joined by Les Violons du Roy and conductor Jean-Marie Zeitouni! The concert opens with the delightful Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major, composed by Mozart at age 25 and publicized in recent years for its soothing influence on the brain (the famous "Mozart effect"). Next up, the two piano virtuosos take on the Double Piano Concerto in E-flat Major, written to be performed by the composer and his sister Nannerl, evidently influenced by the Mannheim school. Finally, Zeitouni and the ensemble conclude the evening with the Symphony No. 41 in C, the Salzburg-born genius's final symphony, imbued with great serenity and a formidable expressive power.
