Description
Summary:Legendary pianist Grigory Sokolov filmed for the first time in ten years, exclusively on medici.tv! It is so rare that it deserves a special mention: in June 2013 Grigory Sokolov, a piano superstar, gave his approval for his recital at the Berliner Philharmonie to be filmed. The last time his performance was filmed live was in November 2002, more than ten years ago, at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. Just like in 2002, Bruno Monsaingeon had the honour of filming the two-and-a-half hour concert given by this piano idol. Bruno Monsaingeon plays an essential role in the musical landscape. A violinist himself, he has directed many documentaries about classical music. His encounters with music legends such as Glenn Gould, Sviatoslav Richter and Yehudi Menuhin have spawned magnificent portraits of these artists, with his work preserving the musical past for future generations. Russian pianist Grigory Sokolov entered the Leningrad Conservatory in 1957 and is today considered one of the greatest pianists of our time. Every year he gives around 80 concerts, including an annual recital at the Berliner Philharmonie, which is always sold out. In 2012, Der Tagesspiegel declared : "[Grigory Sokolov] dreams his artistic dream; more abstract, more profound, yet at the same time more delicate than most of his colleagues. Listening to him is like a gift, and often astonishes." Discover this recital at the Berliner Philharmonie, the first Grigory Sokolov concert to be filmed in more than ten years, exclusively on medici.tv. Listen to works from the twilight of the classic era: Schubert's Impromptus and Drei Klavierstücke, as well as the incredible Hammerklavier by Beethoven at the core of the recital. On top of this, six other works including five Jean-Philippe Rameau pieces (such as the very famous "Danse des sauvages," from the Indes galantes), and the Intermezzo No. 2, Op. 117, by Johannes Brahms, were performed.
