These nine texts by outstanding authors in the field of literature and the arts have been little disseminated among Mexican audiences. The selection aims to show a broad historical panorama of the European vision, especially French, about ancient Mexico, its arts and its rediscovery in the early nineteenth century. This journey through aesthetic wonder will help the reader to situate the ancient art of Mexico in the concert of the visual arts. On the other hand, the great literary quality of the texts and their amenity -product of the trip and direct experience-, as well as the diversity of the pens and the passion that marks each of the authors, are many other reasons to make their reading an original and maddening experience. |
