Description
Summary:The activity of the University of Houston Group during the past year in experimental intermediate energy physics is covered. Research in this area is expanding rapidly throughout the world with the operation of the new meson facilities. This report summarizes research efforts at LAMPF, SREL, Brookhaven National Laboratory and Argonne National Laboratory. The main thrusts of present research is to understand pion production in the few nucleon system, and to begin a series of experiments using K mesons as a probe of the nucleus. Work involving the difference between ..pi../sup +-/ forward scattering from /sup 40/Ca and /sup 48/Ca along with proton-proton and proton-deuteron scattering, will also be reported.
