Description
Summary:Tests were made to investigate the effect of 2-percent additions of six aromatic amines on the knock-limited performance of 28-R fuel in a full-scale aircraft-engine cylinder. Tests were conducted with a Wright R-1820 G200 cylinder at two operating conditions with a 2-percent blend in 28-R fuel of the following six aromatic amines: N-methylxylidines (mixed isomers), N-methylcuumidines (mixed isomers), N-Methyltoluidines (75 percent para-, 25 percent orth- ), xylidines (mixed isomers), cumidines (mixed isomers from refinery cumene), and N-methylaniline (pure). Correlations of the full-scale engine data with published small-scale engine data are also presented.
