Summary: | An investigation has been made to determine the combined effect of a warped forebody and an extended afterbody on the hydrodynamic qualities of a flying boat with a hull having a basic length-beam ratio of 15. The longitudinal stability during take-off and landing and spray characteristics were determined in smooth water. The landing behavior in waves was also determined. In general, warping the forebody and extending the afterbody improved the hydrodynamic qualities of the seaplane having a hull of high length-beam ratio. |
