Some of the findings indicate: (1) The difference in total expenses for residents and commuter students is approximately $400. (2) Total expenses rose faster at public institutions than at private institutions from 1974-75 to 1975-76. (3) The overall increase in total expenses for resident students at all types of institutions from 1974-75 to 1975-76 is 8 percent. (4) The difference in the tuition and fees between private and public institutions is $1,351 for two-year institutions and $1,662 for four-year institutions. (5) Total expenses minus tuition and fees vary only slightly by institutional type and control. (MJM)
