| Summary: | The purpose of this study is to determine what people know and think about Harrisburg Area Community College (Pennsylvania) and its programs. The findings are to be used to establish or modify priorities for continued institutional development. Eight community groups were surveyed: high school students, high school professional staff, self-employed professionals, executives of business and industry, school board members, parents of current H.A.C.C. students, labor union members, and the adult black population. The study has shown that: (1) high school students have a lower level of awareness and approval of H.A.C.C. than do adults; (2) the function of the college seems to be widely accepted by the community; (3) a particular need for educational services is revealed, which, while valid, has been difficult to fulfill; (4) the majority found the cost of tuition and fees acceptable but financial aid for low-income students is needed; (5) the commuting distance to H.A.C.C. is generally acceptable; and (6) proportionately four times as many white students as black planned to attend H.A.C.C.
