Description
Summary:Intended for student use, this unit focuses on making good electrical splices and electrical connections, and discusses tools and equipment used in house wiring jobs. Specific areas covered in the connections section are types of splices, solder equipment and supplies, and solderless connectors (plastic caps, split bolt connectors, crimp-type connectors, non-insulated and insulated terminals, screw terminals, and back-wired quick connectors). An essay test on electrical connections is provided, but no answer key is available. The purpose of the equipment section is to help technicians select the proper tools and to indicate safety measures in their use. Contents include informative materials and tests (essays, simple recall, true-false, and matching) on these topics: pliers, screwdrivers, saws, drilling tools and equipment, hammers, soldering equipment and supplies, measuring tools, conduit and pipe tools, fishing tools and materials, test lights, and chisels. A final pictorial-recall test on residential wiring tools is included. No answer keys for any of the tests are available. (YLB)
