Summary:This guide is designed to be used as a reference tool for the novice library media specialist in charge of one or several pieces of equipment that must be maintained or repaired periodically. Under acquisition of new equipment, topics include selection procedures and equipment selection aids, while the organization section discusses numbering, inventory, and checkout. Repair and replacement topics addressed include tools, optional equipment, projeection lamps, take-up reels, and audio supplies and accessories. Audiovisual maintenance area organization and arrangement is described. The largest section which is devoted to common repair and trouble-shooting diagnosis for miscellaneous viewers and projectors, describes specific repair techniques, procedures, and solutions. Other sections cover care and maintenance of audio equipment, video equipment, and microcomputers. A glossary and a 12-item bibliography are provided, and an appendix contains sample audiovisual equipment checkout, usage and maintenance forms, and a topic index. (LMM)
