Summary:This handbook was developed as a guide for student teachers, supervising teachers, and cooperating teachers participating in the student teaching program at Incarnate Word College (San Antonio, Texas). Section 1, the introduction, lists the six objectives of the student teaching program. Section 2 delineates program guidelines and policy. The third section discusses the role and responsibilities of the student teacher and suggests classroom techniques. Forms are included to record the student teacher's schedule and teaching activities, and course evaluation. Section 4 provides information on the status and responsibilities of the supervising teacher, along with planning guidelines and student teacher evaluation forms. The duties of the college supervisor in orientation, visitation, conferences, and evaluation are outlined in the fifth section. Appendixes provide two suggested methods of student teacher lesson planning and questions for evaluating lesson presentation. (FG)
