520 |a The paper describes the successful use of the LOGO System (an interactive graphics, computer based learning environment) with 12 severely physically handicapped adolescents with cerebral palsy. Five goals were set forth concerning the opportunity to work with microcomputers in interesting ways, the assessment of the students' spatial competence, consequences of lack of experience in language production, the LOGO system's potential human and social consequences, and the need to document this impact for dissemination. The LOGO classroom setup is described as are activities undertaken, including business programing using mathematics, work on spatial deficits, remedial writing, and diagnostic efforts using graphics and seriation tasks. It is explained that the system also allowed for visual experience of shapes and spatial configurations. The system is said to have resulted in significant improvement in the sense of personal worth.
