Summary:Materials contained in this career guidance unit are designed to enable senior high school students to relate their abilities scores from the Developed Abilities Performance (DAP) instrument to actual vocational areas and Long Range [occupational] Goals (LRG) for later indepth study. The length of the unit is six 55-minute periods. Instructional sequence of the unit is outlined in terms of goal statements, performance objectives, instructor's information (including estimated lesson time, suggested grouping, content outline, new vocabulary, student prerequisites, instructor's preparation tasks, resources), and a detailed outline for developing the lesson. A rationale for career guidance and a media resources sheet are included. Student materials provided include the following: a guide containing activities for use with the unit and a booklet describing occupational groups and twelve groups of LRGs. Student information sheets and guides are provided in the form of mini-pacs for the following occupational areas: Engineering and architectural; mathematical and physical science; health service; biological science; business administration; teaching; social service; law, humanities, and social sciences; performing arts; technical; business sales; mechanical and repair; industrial trades; building trades; business clerical; and public and commercial service.
