Described in section 1 are 30 sex equity programs that are offered through the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDOE) and that deal with the following topics: nontraditional jobs for women, tech prep opportunities, teenage pregnancy and parenting, vocational opportunities in rural schools, career awareness, prevocational education, and leadership skills. Section 2 discusses eight sex equity projects operated by the West Virginia Community College Division (WVCCD) of the State College System of West Virginia. Profiled in sections 3 and 4 are a total of 42 programs that are offered through the WVDOE's Division of Technical and Adult Services (34 programs) and WVCCD (8 programs) to assist single parents, displaced homemakers, and single pregnant women. Among the programs described are those that provide support services, encourage mentoring among female professionals, help women assess career options, and provide special vocational training for nontraditional occupations. Each project/program description includes the name of the school district/agency offering the program, a brief description of the program's objectives and services, and a contact person. (MN)
