| 520 | |a This publication is comprised entirely of statistical reports that summarize graduation-rate data collected from National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division 1 member institutions. The reports reflect the graduation rates of: (1) students and student-athletes entering college in the 1985-86 academic year, and (2) the average graduation rates of the freshman classes entering college in 1983, 1984, and 1985. Rates are based on individuals graduating (or not graduating) within six years of their initial collegiate enrollment. The reports have been divided into categories that group similar public and private member institutions, reflect differences in institutional sizes and missions, and place institutions with similar philosophies together. Ten tables provide the following information about graduation rates and enrollment for 298 Division 1 institutions: comparisons between students and student-athletes; information on gender and racial groups; an overall look at the different sports categories; organization of institutions by NCAA Division 1 subdivisions (based on existing football programs); and detailed data for both large and small public and private schools.
