Summary: | The Alberta (Canada) curriculum for 10th, 11th, and 12th grade French immersion instruction is presented. An introductory section describes the rationale and objectives of the program and provides a brief bibliography. The next section charts the types of discourse on which the curriculum focuses within each language skill area (listening, speaking, reading, writing), with suggested instruction types to be allotted to each. Three subsequent chapters outline in greater detail the behavioral objectives and notional content at each of the three grade levels for oral communication (listening, speaking), reading, and writing instruction. The final section offers ideas and behavioral objectives for enrichment in each skill area, for each discourse type, and at each grade level. Appended materials include lists of suggested prefixes and suffixes, relation markers, paragraph organization considerations, and syntax features to incorporate into the curriculum at each grade level.
