Summary: | The judging philosophy statements of most of the judges at the 1987 National Cross Examination Debate Association Tournament are contained in this booklet. A short form on each judge details how long they have been judging and how many rounds of debate on the topic of the tournament they had previously judged. A longer form asks for information about their judging paradigms, their views on presentation of arguments by the affirmative and negative teams, and the roles of evidence, style, and delivery in their judging decisions. Samples of both forms are included. A list of all judges participating in the tournament is also included, and those judges for whom no judging philosophy statement could be located are indicated. The judging philosophies are presented alphabetically, and each judge addresses at least a subset of the questions on the forms. However, a few of the statements were prepared for other tournaments, and are more general. (SKC) |
