Preschool attendance, living in a two-parent family, father's occupation, mother's education, family income, and time father spends with the child correlated with IQ. Emerging in the final regression analysis model as predictors of higher IQ were father's occupation, preschool attendance, and living in a two-parent family, with father's occupation the strongest predictor variable. Influence variables entered into the regression analysis for motor skill, as measured by static balance, were number of older siblings, preschool non-attendance, time mother spends with the child, and mother not employed. Time mother spends with the child, preschool non-attendance, and number of older siblings were included in the final regression model for the static balance measure of motor skill, with mother time the strongest predictor. The only predictor variable included in the final model for the strength dimension of motor abilities, as indicated by long jump score, was the child's sex. Males scored higher. (Author/RH) | ||
