Description
Summary:The manual presents information on career exploration for middle/junior high school special education teachers. The introduction lists eight goals of career education, including the development of reading, writing, computation, speaking, and listening skills. Chapter 2 outlines Individualized Education Program objectives, suggested activities, and materials/resources for such topic areas as health and physical education, self concept, practical reading, social skills, and vocational and career development (including job exploration, occupational clusters, and interview skills). A chapter on materials, media, and methods lists available resources (multimedia sets, kits, workbooks, games, posters, and teacher/professional materials). A section on community resources comments upon parent involvement and steps in using community resources. Following a review of ways to remove bias and stereotyping, the manual lists related vocabulary. (CL)
