Shoulder morphology in four species of New World primate: Possible links to foraging behavior [electronic resource]

The Brown Capuchin, Cebus apella, is a New World primate inhabiting a wide variety of habitats, and remarkable for its broad diet and tool use. I compared C. apella to several related species of cebine primates, using morphometric techniques to determine if there are morphological apomorphies relate...

I compared C. apella to several related species of cebine primates, using morphometric techniques to determine if there are morphological apomorphies related to its unusual behaviors. I examined the bones of the shoulder girdle---clavicle, scapula, and humerus. Several unexpected results were found, but none could be proven to be unrelated to allometry.
