| Item Description: | Reissue, with collective title page to each volume, of twelve separately issued plays, each printed for Charles Smith and Stephen Stephens in 1800. Some copies lack the general title page and frontispiece. A third volume, containing some plays not printed until 1801, was issued in that year. Portrait of Kotzebue in volume 1 engraved by T. Clarke; portrait of John Hodgkinson in volume 2 by Cornelius Tiebout. READEX NOTE: Frontispiece portraits of Kotzebue and of Mr. Hodgkinson, and the title page to volume 2 only are reproduced as 37747. The plays are reproduced as separately issued, under their respective Evans numbers. |
