520 |a "This second edition of the book is a unique introduction to the links between different areas of global governance, human rights and the global economy. By drawing on these links, the author argues that the foundations of global governance are undermined by what he terms internal "tragic flaws" which demonstrate how the legitimacy of key areas of global governance are undermined by failures to live up to their foundational values and respect for human dignity and rights. The book explores how human rights and international law are affected by these tragic flaws in the critical institutions of global governance and in the global private sector. The book is brought up to date in this second edition by examining the impact of major events in global governance including the present day legacy of the 2008 global financial crisis, the impact of the global Covid-19 pandemic, the allegations of genocide in China and Myanmar and the growing impact of authoritarian leaders in Europe and elsewhere including in the US under the administration of former President Donald Trump. With this intensely interdisciplinary approach, this edition is aimed at motivating new thinking in the realm of global governance, human rights and international law. The book will be of great interest and use to students and researchers of public international law, international relations, political science, business and human rights and international trade and economic law"--  |c Provided by publisher.
