David Yardley
Sir David Charles Miller Yardley
(4 June 1929 – 3 June 2014) was a British
legal scholar
and public servant. Although a
barrister
, Yardley spent his legal career in academia. From 1953 to 1974, he taught
jurisprudence
at the University of Oxford, where he was a fellow of St Edmund Hall, Oxford. He then held
chairs
at the
University of Birmingham
,
Oxford Polytechnic
, and the
University College at Buckingham
. He then served as chair of the
Commission for Local Administration in England
from 1982 to 1994, for which he was knighted.
